This past week was busy. On Monday, we ate at Azima (a shaorma place) with the Sisters and the senior couple (and yes, Iron Man lovers, where is shaorma a big thing?—Romania). After we ate, the senior couple gave us a ride to and from the supermarket in exchange for showing them how to get to their apartment by bus. It was so nice of them; getting driven home from grocery shopping when you live on the other side of town is wonderful.
We had our first sports night on Tuesday after English classes. It was a big hit amongst the members, and two non-members also showed up. We played horse, and I must say activities are the best things ever, both for branches and for missionaries!
We had our first lesson Wednesday with the couple we met last Sunday. On Thursday we had exchanges with the Zone Leaders. The senior couple had us covered for district meeting treats (no-bake cookies), but I have a baking problem, so everyone also got brownies to take home. I conducted my first baptismal interview and we met with our new investigators again that night.
Friday night we met with our new investigators for the third night in a row (whoa, this is new), this time bringing our super awesome branch mission leader. We taught the Plan of Salvation and the husband told me that he wasn’t working, so they were coming to the baptism being held the next day. More brownies were made that night, this time as baptismal service refreshments.
Our investigators came to the baptism! It was great to see the new convert baptized by her recent convert father. It’s amazing to see that he brought part of his family to a knowledge of the Gospel! We ended up having WAY too many refreshments, so we got rather stuffed with unhealthiness (not that I had to worry about taking any brownies home).
Sunday’s sacrament meeting in Brasov was great, as was the confirmation of the newly baptized member. The Sisters had to leave right after sacrament meeting (one of them has to spend a day in Chisinau to resolve visa issues). We also went to Feldioara with the senior couple for the group’s sacrament service and to invite some less active members to sports night and church. I haven’t been there in a while, and it was fun. The senior couple also surprised us by taking us home with them and sharing dinner with us (senior couples are SO AWESOME).
Zone Conference is this Wednesday, and it’s going to be in Brasov! I am responsible for organizing the lunch, which means that my baking workload is going through the roof! I’ve decided on brownies, peanut butter cookies, and oatmeal raisin cookies. Also, one of the Elder’s birthday is today (we’re going bowling), so there will be a fruit cream pie (raspberries, strawberries, and cherries) at this week’s district meeting.
Until next time,
